  Licensing
Using BEPUphysics noncommercially is free!  Read the noncommercial license agreement for more information.

Interested in using BEPUphysics in a commercial product?  You'll need a commercial license before you release; below is the overview of the terms and pricing.

If you have any questions, or if you are ready to set up a commercial license, contact us.

Description:

This pricing plan uses a flat percentage of revenue from all projects using BEPUphysics. This pricing plan and the commercial license apply only to products and services utilizing BEPUphysics that are distributed or sold to end users.

The commercial license must be signed and agreed to before commercially distributing projects that include BEPUphysics.

Once the commercial license is signed, the licensed developer can sell games and software on any platform (PC, Xbox360, WP7) using BEPUphysics under the same license. The revenue from each project (on each platform) using BEPUphysics is reported on a calendar quarterly basis.

Revenue is defined as the total amounts received by the licensed developer from projects utilizing BEPUphysics. Revenue includes (but is not limited to) sales, subscriptions, advertisement, and microtransactions.

Price:

(All amounts in U.S. Dollars)

$0 upfront at the time of licensing.
For the first $4,000 in revenue, the royalties due are 0% of revenue.
Beyond $4,000 in revenue, the royalties due are 4% of revenue.

Example 1:

You sign a commercial license in the first quarter. You release your first game using BEPUphysics and make $4,001 in the first quarter. You owe us 4 cents for the first quarter.

In the second quarter, your first game makes $4,001 again; you owe us $160.04 for the second quarter.

In the third quarter, you release a second game using BEPUphysics. In this quarter, your first game makes $1, and your second game makes $4,000. In total, you make $4,001 BEPUphysics related revenue for the third quarter; you owe us $160.04 for the third quarter.

Example 2:

After signing a commercial license in the second quarter, you prepare to release your first game. However, it’s delayed until the third quarter. For the second quarter, you owe us $0.

In the third quarter, you release your first game using BEPUphysics and make $4,001. You owe us 4 cents for the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, your first game makes $10,000; you owe us $400 for the fourth quarter.
